The new Samyang V-AF Manual Focus Adapter has been added to the V-AF lens range to give filmmakers better and more precise control when they want to manually set the focus. Even with a moving subject, many videographers prefer manual focus for fast-moving sequences. They prefer to choose where the lens focuses and not leave this to the camera. The adapter easily attaches to the front of any V-AF lens with a unique front bayonet mount, giving filmmakers and videographers total control over focus.
The Manual Focus Adapter features a dual scale with both feet and metres, and fine focus adjustments can be made with a smooth and long 300? rotation. The focus ring has an industry standard 0.8 MOD (minimum object distance) and can be combined with any follow focus system. When the adapter is fitted, the MF ring on the V-AF lens can be used as an aperture ring. A tally lamp on the front of the adapter lets the subject or photographer know whether the camera is in recording or standby mode, and the 95mm front diameter makes it easy to attach a matte box.
Current cinema lenses tend to be heavy and bulky, but with the new Samyang V-AF Manual Focus Adapter, it is possible to have all the features of a conventional cinema lens, but in a much more compact format. When combined with a V-AF Series lens, the total weight is only 430g compared to a cinema lens, that can weigh twice as much.
