The Modular Windshield Kit 11 is suitable for microphones up to 575mm in length and 19-25mm diameter with a 3-Pin XLR connector such as the Rode NTG-8.

This complete modular system can be configured to allow almost any microphone to be shock-mounted and provided with varying degrees of windshielding. Components may be ordered separately, or as one of a series of kits, which simplify the selection process for many common configurations.A Modular Windshield Kit is comprised of the following three main components: Modular Suspension, Modular Windshield and Windjammer.

Modular Suspension

Our suspensions provides complete isolation against handling noise and cable-borne noises, by supporting the microphone in a cradle arrangement using Lyre suspension webs.

Windshield

The Windshield basket completely surrounds the microphone and its connector, sliding onto the Modular Suspension to provide up to 30dB of wind noise attenuation. This is the first layer of windshielding protection for your microphone.

Windjammer

The Windjammer introduced by Rycote in 1985, is high quality synthetic fur covers, designed to fit perfectly over the Modular Windshield. It gives an additional 20dB of wind noise attenuation. Fitted with a drawstring & toggle to allow snug and easy fitting. Modular Windshield Kits, including zipped Windjammer are also available on request.

InVision USM VB-L

Universal microphone shock-mount ideal for microphones weighing 500 grammes or less (will hold up to 750 grammes) & between 55mm and 68mm in diameter.

Main Benefits:

For several years, Rycote InVision mounts have been available for narrow-barrelled shotgun and stick microphones in broadcast and videography applications, but not until 2010, and the release of the striking Universal Studio Mount (USM) was there an InVision shock-mount capable of accommodating large-diaphragm recording microphones for use in recording studios.

Like the other InVision mounts, the USM-L makes use of Rycote’s patented vibration-resistant Lyre mount, but on this mount the W-shaped Lyres are placed around a central mounting ring with adjustable fasteners, allowing the USM to accommodate microphone between 18 and 55 mm in diameter, and up to 400 grammes in weight.

The Rycote USM updates the concept of the microphone suspension for the 21st century, completely omitting any elasticated parts and using modern materials to create a virtually indestructible shock-mount with a performance that far outstrips that of the humble ‘cat’s cradle’ suspension. In controlled tests at the Rycote factory, the USM provided up to twice the isolation of traditional microphone suspension systems.
